New Skirmish League (NSL): Discussion Thread

Post by klifsnider » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:20 pm

SCOREBOARD, SCHEDULE AND ROSTERS: http://tinyurl.com/qhqw5kc
  1. The NSL is a skirmish league. Teams are divided into groups by skill level, with the best teams in the first group. A group holds 4 teams.
  • Each season lasts 3 weeks, with one match played versus every team in your group.
  • At the end of the season, the winner and loser in each group is determined by matches won. In the event of a tie, the team with the most score (added up from all matches) wins. Due to the difference in score gain per map, all teams must play the pre-determined map. (e.g. you cannot decide to play bg_townguard instead of ctf_river. The score of the townguard map would be in the thousands, while the score on river would barely reach 100. Each team will play the same map in the same week.)
  • After the season has ended, the top team in a group will get promoted to the group above, and the lowest team will drop down one group, in preparation for the following season. The winner of the top group is the champion of the league.
  • Regarding the matches themselves, the BGU (http://www.bgunited.org) rules apply, save these changes:
*Should there be a match between a European and an American team, these teams have the right to demand 1 round on a European and 1 round on an American server (unless either team doesn't own a server, in which case the other team's server will be used.)
*The winner of the match has to post the match outcome in the results thread by monday, 9PM GMT. Failure to do so will mean a forfeit win for the other team.
*Regarding forfeit wins, both teams get 0 score. Should there be a tie at the end of the season where one of the teams has a forfeit win, the other's teams score from the week of the forfeit win will be discarded.
Below is an image for easier understanding of the league's mechanics.

Thoughts / suggestions etc are welcome.

So a 6 team "League" with no rosters? This'll be interesting

There are rosters, since BGU rules apply. You must have read over that.
I don't know how many teams will sign up, if any, why do you say 6?

What I was told in a conversation with someone earlier indicated six teams ready to go with rosters

SCHEDULE, ROSTERS AND SCOREBOARD: http://tinyurl.com/qhqw5kc

Remember:

---> BGU Rules apply! http://www.bgunited.org
---> All matches are at 7 British time (if in doubt, google: "the time in London") unless BOTH teams agree to play at a different time.
---> It is up to the team leaders to get in contact with other team leaders. You can find all relevant steam profiles in the registration thread. In case of trouble setting up a match, post on the forum or contact me.
---> You need the bgu.cfg installed on your server (http://bgunited.org/files.php).
---> You CANNOT play a different map.
---> Don't give up! Every point in every match counts for the final scoreboard!

Are the rules posted anywhere? BGU site appears to be down :( I have a few questions if not:
Are spraypaints allowed?
Do we have to use the exact name on the roster, or are we ok to change our name as long as we have the tag on and the player's steamid is on the roster?
