2.4 Update

Will this update still be in 2007 SDK or new 2013 engine?

This will still be in the 2007 SDK.

We plan to release 3.0 on the 2013 engine, but this won't be a regular update. The plan is to overhaul a lot of the dated aspects of BG2 such as the models and textures and user interface.

The hotfix should be ready to release by mid-September.

Well these things can happen, complications (in the actual game or in peoples lives remember no ones being PAID for this in any way shape or form) can come up that cause delays, development is hard and predicting when things will be "done" is very hard too.

AAA games get delayed by months, and they get paid to keep that stuff on track.

So maybe give the dev team a bit of slack, after all they are still keeping us updated it's not just "soon™"

Yes, this took longer than planned. However, we moved from trying a simple hot fix to instead issuing a game update. 2.4 will include more than a simple hot fix, hence it was slower to build. We recently finished testing the round summary/awards function. This is just an example of 2.4 turning out more substance than the originally planned hotfix.

Sounds good to me, main issue to keep in mind is that the game needs an update badly. People will play BG2 more but only if there's new content around, only so many times you can play the same things over and over.

This is entirely true. It gets old. 2.4 will fix a number of issues and add some new stuff. For 3.0, we're actually looking at totally re-working what the officer does, but that is still in the concept phase. For now, 2.4 does make a number of much-needed fixes to the game and adds a few nice, new items.

Worth noting there's no 2.2 to 2.3 patch available.

Joe 2.4 is out and there is a patch from 2.3 to 2.4

Just played new version and looks ok. Couple things though, after capping all flags the same player was scored as dangerous and useless which was funny but could be a bug. Also map bg_new_london map is awesome and crazy with 8 or more players however I think a night version of that map needs to be out to. There are some nice lamp models that would look great on a night version. Still the same old smoke issue in console and some physics errors other wise looking good.
